Definition
SCIM is an open standard for automatically provisioning, updating, and deprovisioning user accounts across applications from an identity provider.
SCIM defines a REST API and schema for user and group objects so an identity provider can create, update, and deactivate accounts in connected applications as people join, move, and leave. Combined with single sign-on over OpenID Connect or SAML, it gives IT one place to control access.
For platforms that run agents, SCIM matters beyond user accounts. If agents act on behalf of users and are owned by users, deprovisioning a user should suspend the agents they own and revoke the delegated access they granted. A platform that does not tie agent lifecycle to identity lifecycle leaves orphaned agents with live permissions.
Meridian supports SCIM provisioning; owner deprovisioning suspends that owner's agents in the Registry until a new owner is assigned.
