Agent registry
Definition
An agent registry is a catalog of the AI agents an organization operates, used to discover, permission, monitor, and retire them from one place.
An agent registry lists the agents an organization runs, with enough metadata to find, permission, monitor, and retire each one. A registry becomes a system of record when it is authoritative: when an agent that is not in the registry cannot run, and when the registry's record of permissions is the one that is enforced.
Registries typically expose an API so security, IT service management, and governance tools can read agent records as assets. Mature registries add lifecycle controls (pause, scope down, retire), evaluation results, and cost attribution.
In Meridian, the Registry is both the catalog and the enforcement point: publishing an agent in Studio or connecting one through the Gateway creates the record, and the record's scopes are what the Gateway enforces.
