Agent system of record
Definition
An agent system of record is the authoritative registry of every AI agent in an organization, recording owner, permissions, data access, and compliance status.
An agent system of record does for AI agents what a human resources information system does for employees. It holds one record per agent, regardless of who built it, with the agent's owner, purpose, role, permissions, the systems and data it touches, its model configuration, its risk tier, and its review and compliance status. It also records what each agent has done.
The term matters because agents are proliferating faster than governance. Business units build them in low-code tools, vendors embed them in applications, and developers wire them up in frameworks. Without a system of record, security cannot inventory them, finance cannot attribute their cost, and no one is accountable when one misbehaves.
Meridian's Registry is an agent system of record. Agents from Meridian, partners, and customers register through the Gateway and appear with the same record structure and the same immutable action log.
