Glossary
Definition
An ERP is the integrated system of record for a company's financial and operational transactions: general ledger, subledgers, procurement, and inventory.
In finance, the ERP holds the general ledger and the subledgers that feed it: accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and often payroll and revenue. It records purchase orders, receipts, invoices, payments, and journal entries, along with who created and approved each one. It is the primary source of audit evidence and the system whose controls SOX testing examines.
Agents that work in finance need read access to the ERP at the transaction level and must respect its role model. Most finance agents should never need write access; they prepare work for a person to post.
Meridian's finance agents connect to the ERP read-only through the Data Fabric or zero-copy warehouse access. The Audit, Controls, and Close Agents all operate this way.
